Brooks' Playground in Cleveland Park Welcomes Children of All Abilities |
Greenville has proudly unveiled its first fully inclusive playground, Brooks' Playground, located in Cleveland Park at 206 Woodland Way.
This 10,640-square-foot facility is designed to accommodate children aged six months to 13 years, offering accessible play equipment, wheelchair-friendly ramps, and sensory-friendly zones.
The playground is named in honor of Brooks Foster, a young girl with a rare neurological disorder that affects her mobility.
Her parents, Paul and Reagin Foster, envisioned a space where children of all abilities could play together.
They generously contributed approximately $800,000 to the project, which, combined with city funding and other private donations, totaled around $3.9 million.
In addition to the playground, the area features new restrooms, two picnic shelters, and improved parking facilities.
These enhancements are part of a broader renovation plan for Cleveland Park, aiming to make it more accessible and enjoyable for all visitors.
Brooks' Playground stands as a testament to Greenville's commitment to inclusivity and community engagement.
Families are encouraged to visit and experience this welcoming space, fostering play and connection among children of diverse abilities. |
