Warming Shelters Open in Greenville, SC Amid Freezing Temperatures |
Local organizations provide refuge as temperatures plummet |
As Greenville, South Carolina, experiences freezing temperatures, several local organizations have opened warming shelters to provide refuge for those in need.
Miracle Hill Ministries has activated its Severe Weather Shelters, extending operating hours to ensure safety during the cold snap. The following facilities are available:
Greenville Rescue Mission 575 West Washington Street, Greenville, SC 29601
Shepherd’s Gate 11 Regency Hill Drive, Greenville, SC 29607
These shelters accommodate men, women, and families experiencing homelessness. A white flag is displayed when the cold weather shelter is open. Guests can check in starting at 8:00 p.m., with amenities including showers, meals, and assigned sleeping arrangements. Breakfast and coffee are provided at check-out at 6:30 a.m.
The Salvation Army at 417 Rutherford Street in Greenville opens its cold weather shelter when temperatures fall below 40 degrees. A white flag flying atop the Chapel building indicates the shelter is operational.
