Warming Shelters Open in Greenville, SC Amid Freezing Temperatures

Local organizations provide refuge as temperatures plummet

As Greenville, South Carolina, experiences freezing temperatures, several local organizations have opened warming shelters to provide refuge for those in need.

Miracle Hill Ministries has activated its Severe Weather Shelters, extending operating hours to ensure safety during the cold snap. The following facilities are available:

Greenville Rescue Mission

575 West Washington Street, Greenville, SC 29601

Shepherd’s Gate

11 Regency Hill Drive, Greenville, SC 29607

These shelters accommodate men, women, and families experiencing homelessness. A white flag is displayed when the cold weather shelter is open. Guests can check in starting at 8:00 p.m., with amenities including showers, meals, and assigned sleeping arrangements. Breakfast and coffee are provided at check-out at 6:30 a.m.

The Salvation Army at 417 Rutherford Street in Greenville opens its cold weather shelter when temperatures fall below 40 degrees. A white flag flying atop the Chapel building indicates the shelter is operational.

In addition to these facilities, other shelters in the Upstate area are offering services:

Spartanburg Rescue Mission

189 North Forest Street, Spartanburg, SC 29301

Cherokee County Rescue Mission

227 Henderson Street, Gaffney, SC 29341

These shelters provide essential services to those seeking warmth and safety during the harsh winter conditions.

Residents are encouraged to check with these organizations for the most current information on shelter availability and operating hours.
