The Westin Poinsett Hotel, a landmark of downtown Greenville, is up for sale after nearly 30 years under the stewardship of owner Steven Dopp.

 

Dopp’s heartfelt message to community leaders emphasized searching for a buyer dedicated to honoring the hotel’s century-long history and commitment to Southern hospitality.

 

Located at 120 S. Main St., the Westin Poinsett first opened in 1925, offering 200 guest rooms and expansive meeting space across a striking 12-story building.

 

Following an extensive $20 million renovation, the hotel made its grand return in 2000, reclaiming its role as a premier destination in Greenville.

 

The sale, expected to close by early 2026, coincides with downtown’s surge of transformative developments, including the Gateway Project and luxury communities like Biltmore Walk and The McDaniel.

 

This pivotal transition promises a new chapter for a beloved city icon.
