After a year of dedicated work, the West Bay Boardwalk at Conestee Nature Preserve in Greenville, South Carolina, has officially reopened to visitors.
Originally devastated by Hurricane Helene, severe flooding had left this crucial yellow trail connector dismantled and the community heartbroken.
Support from Fluor Corporation, which raised $900,000 through a charity golf tournament, made an ambitious restoration possible.
The restoration included demolition, soil testing, and a complete redesign of a now 1,000-foot, flood-resistant boardwalk.
This reopening not only restores seamless access to scenic trails but also stands as a symbol of resilience and local unity.
Visitors again can experience the lush beauty of Conestee, while future improvements—like plans for the Woody Walk—promise even more revitalization.
