Augusta Street Pizza Brings Roman-Style Slices to Greenville This Fall |
New York Natives Introduce Authentic Italian Flavors to Augusta Street |
Greenville's culinary landscape is set to expand with the arrival of Augusta Street Pizza, a new eatery slated to open this fall at 2222 Augusta St., #4.
Specializing in Roman-style pizza, the restaurant will offer slices ranging from premium toppings to classic sauce-and-cheese combinations.
In addition to pizza, patrons can look forward to authentic Italian sandwiches and handcrafted gelato.
The venture is the brainchild of Nick Castronuovo, Carmelo "Carmine" Curra, and Peter Lombardo, three New Yorkers with deep roots in South Italy.
Curra, originally from Queens, shared, "We're going to serve pizza by the slice, because that's how we grew up."
He emphasized their desire to offer a style of pizza that is both delicious and slightly healthier, noting its airy texture.
The decision to open in Greenville was influenced by a family member's move to the area four years ago.
The trio believes the 1,350-square-foot space on Augusta Road is ideal for realizing their lifelong dream.
Augusta Street Pizza's Roman-style pizza is distinguished by a dough with 15% higher hydration than traditional or New York styles.
This technique results in a crispier, airier crust.
Curra mentioned plans to get creative with toppings, including eggplant, zucchini, and mushrooms.
The menu will also feature sandwiches like meatball and chicken parmesan, utilizing their crispy pizza dough as the bread.
Additionally, the restaurant will offer regionally sourced handmade gelato.
Emphasizing local partnerships, Augusta Street Pizza is collaborating with area farmers to source organic and naturally processed produce.
The restaurant is expected to seat around 28 patrons indoors.
While a specific opening date hasn't been announced, the owners anticipate welcoming guests sometime in fall 2025.
Operating hours will be Tuesday to Thursday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m., Friday and Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.
