Kawonu Golf Club Progresses Toward 2027 Opening in Greenville County

Exclusive private course designed by Andrew Green takes shape near Reedy River

Kawonu Golf Club is steadily advancing toward its anticipated spring 2027 debut in southern Greenville County.

Situated near the intersection of S.C. Highway 418 and Fork Shoals Road, this exclusive private course is the first of its kind in the area in over three decades.

On September 18, 2025, course architect Andrew Green led a tour of the 290-acre site, highlighting the progress made since construction began earlier this year.

Green, renowned for his work on prestigious courses like Oak Hill and Congressional, emphasized the property's natural beauty, noting its rolling meadows, hardwood forests, and proximity to the Reedy River.

Approximately one-third of the land will remain a nature preserve, underscoring the club's commitment to environmental stewardship.

The course is designed to play at about 7,300 yards from the championship tees and roughly 5,000 yards from the front tees, catering to golfers of varying skill levels.

Membership is by invitation only, with plans to cap at 500 to ensure an intimate and high-quality golfing experience.

In addition to the 18-hole course, the club will feature a clubhouse, practice facilities, and four-bedroom cabins for overnight stays.

Founding partner Scott Ferrell expressed enthusiasm about the project's progress, stating, "We are creating an enclave that will add a unique concept to the golf landscape of the Upstate."

As construction continues, the team remains focused on delivering a world-class golf experience that honors the game's traditions while embracing the natural splendor of Greenville County.
