The Pharmacy at Augusta Set to Revitalize Greenville's Dining Scene |
New American Bistro Pays Homage to Historic Campbell's Pharmacy |
Greenville's culinary landscape is about to welcome a nostalgic yet contemporary addition with the upcoming opening of The Pharmacy at Augusta.
Located at 15 Conestee Avenue, this American bistro is slated to open its doors in late September or early October.
The restaurant aims to honor the legacy of Campbell's Pharmacy, a beloved local establishment that served the community for seven decades.
Under the guidance of Chef Nelson De Hoyos, formerly of Hall's Chophouse, the menu will blend classic flavors with modern twists.
Diners can anticipate a variety of offerings, including lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch.
The venue will also feature a cocktail lounge and an outdoor patio, providing a versatile dining experience.
General Manager Larry Bullock emphasizes the restaurant's commitment to exceptional service, stating, "Expect to be taken care of with an elevated service that we know the Augusta Road community loves."
The interior design will incorporate subtle nods to the building's past, creating a space that feels both familiar and fresh.
Historically, the site was home to Campbell's Pharmacy, which opened in 1928 and became a popular hangout for Greenville High School students and neighborhood residents.
Notably, former South Carolina Governor Dick Riley began his working career there, and actress Joanne Woodward was among its patrons.
After Campbell's Pharmacy closed in 1997, the location housed various establishments, including Tipsy Taco and The Common Cure.
The Pharmacy at Augusta seeks to rekindle the communal spirit that once defined this space.
As Bullock notes, "What Campbell's Pharmacy did really well here was create a communal space and a meeting space for people, and we hope to do the same."
With its blend of historical homage and contemporary flair, The Pharmacy at Augusta is poised to become a cherished gathering spot in Greenville.
